Steve Stem is the author of several works of fiction, including the Angel of Forgetfulness (2005), the Wedding Jester(2000), winner of the National Jewish Book Award for Fiction, and Lazar Melkin Enters Heaven: Stories (1987) winner of the Edward Lewis Wallant Award for Jewish American Fiction. His book of short stories Isaac and the Undertaker's Daughter won a Pushcart Writer's Choice award with the title story of the collection winning an O. Henry prize.
