Matan Hermoni is one of Israel’s leading young authors. He achieved his breakthrough with the novel Hebrew Publishing Company (2011), a meditation on the fate of Yiddish culture in the United States, which was nominated for the Sapir Prize, Israel’s highest literary honor. In addition to his fiction, Hermoni works as a translator from Yiddish and English to Hebrew and as a literary scholar focusing on the cultural relations between the United States and Israel. Matan visited UIUC in the Fall of 2012 through the Israel Studies Project.
