Doris Shen

Doris Shen is a senior with a dual degree in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences with a major in Religion and the Gies College of Business with a major in Accountancy. I also completed three minors, including Jewish Studies, Economics, and Medieval Studies. I am a James Scholar and Dean’s List recipient for all four years, and I am also a member of both Beta Gamma Sigma and Phi Beta Kappa. Upon graduation, I am also awarded the Senior 100 Honorary Class of 2021 and the Hoffman Family Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Study of Religion. I also earned a Certificate in Interfaith Studies from the Department of Religion and a Leadership Certificate from the Illinois Leadrship Center. After graduation, I will continue to attend the Master of Accounting Science program at UIUC.

Judaism and Christianity are my concentrations within the Religion Department. My capstone project focused on the relationship between greek philosophy and the development of early Christianity, specifically regarding the writings of Justin, Clement, and Origen. As a member of the university, I also served as a tax preparer for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, as a teaching assistant for ECON 103 (Macroeconomic Principles), and as a writer & interviewer for the COVID-Corps: Action for Solutions course. Additionally, I also engaged in various activities on campus, including the Society of Women in Business, Israel for Gies James Scholars, and the Technology & Disruption seminar.
